Adventure Machu Picchu Trip

Out of the many great adventures Peru has to offer, the most attractive adventure would be the Machu Picchu trip. The internationally renowned Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is a magnet for tourist from all over the world. The Inca Trail was built during the Inca Empire dynasty and served as a connecting route between villages and farms. The Inca Trail today starts from Ecuador all the way to Chile and these routes are divided into north-south routes and east-west routes.

Machu Picchu is an ancient civilisation that is located above the Urubamba valley along the mountain ridge. It has also been dubbed the Lost City and wasn’t discovered by explorers till 1911 when Hiram Bingham announced his discovery to a variety of scholars. This Lost City has been on the Peruvian governments’ ‘maintain and repair list’ ever since its early discovery plus tons of work and effort has been into preserving Machu Picchu.

A Machu Picchu trip via the Inca trail promises a lot of fun and adventure but be sure to book your spots early due to the governments new ordinance.

Only 500 tourists including the tour guide are allowed per trip up the mountain due to erosion and the unstable ground. Considering how Machu Picchu was selected to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World, some visitors have tried booking their spots as early as three months ahead and still unable to obtain a spot in the tour.

The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is divided into three trails, the Mollepata, Classic and the One day. The most common route used by tour companies is the Classics which will consume three to four days before reaching Machu Picchu.

The largest city that’s nearest to the Inca trail would be Cuzco and this will be the starting point of your adventure. Once in Cuzco, you will board the local train and be dropped off at Km 88 which is where the real adventure begins.

You will hike the trail past Cusichaca until you come to your first camp site where you will rest the night. The next day, you will hike past Huayllabamba and Abra de Huarmihuanusca and eventually reach your second camp site. On the third day, you will cross Abra de Runkuracay and Huinay Huana where you will find your third campsite. On the fourth and last day, all you’ve got to do is past the butterfly meadow and reach Intipunki which is the gate of Machu Picchu and Lost City of the Incan Empire.

White Water Rafting Adventures

Family Adventure can be had by the entire family in White Water. If you have kids from 12 on up you will want to consider this adventure for your next vacation. I highly recommend Cataract Canyon.

Cataract Canyon is on the Colorado River before the flow of the river has been choked off by man made dams. You will be thrilled by the ride that cannot be recreated in any amusement park. The river can reach extreme flows during when a lot of snow has fallen during the winter months.

The White Water Rafting Adventure in the Colorado River here is in big water. The rapids here are rated from 1 to 10 an extreme ride that will give you an adrenaline rush to not be missed. Families will bond with trust and excitement. During high spring run off times the National Park Service establishes a camp below big drop to rescue people with power boats.

The river trip is 47 miles long.

You start the trip down the Colorado from Moab, Utah. You will travel through colorful canyons and leave the rat race of city life behind. Discover the ruins of lost civilizations. Hear about the mysteries of the area and have a trip you and your family will never forget.

Cataract Canyon rapids occur when the Green River and the Colorado meet. White water rapids are just a natural cause of the meeting of the waters. Just enjoy the ride.

Most of the White Water Rafting providers in the area have a 5 day river trip package. It usually includes meals. You still will need to set up your tent at the end of the day. Food is usually plentiful and taste great after a day on the river.

If you would like to experience the river and do not have 5 days to spend on the river consider a power boat tour.

Power boat tours do not provide the same experience they only are a 1 day trip. After a powerboat trip I am willing to bet you will return for a longer adventure.

Get Adventurous in Tenerife

The small Canary Island is home to many attractions and during the winter months the resort changes beyond recognition. Although beach goers, seen during the summer months, are still present the rock climbers also come out to play. In recent years the island has been identified as one of the best places in the world to go rock climbing during the winter and that reputation has gone global. The island is easily reached by people looking for adventure and above all it is incredibly warm, making it one of the premiere winter destinations.

The island is not only popular for its warmth and the accessibility. The area also offers some amazing rock climbing and Mount Teide is a great place for bouldering, abseiling and climbing. The industry in the area has also increased during the last few years and there are now several mountain climbing shops with guides ready to show you the way to some of the best climbing in the world.

Tenerife has undergone some heavy redevelopment in the last couple of years. All the old bolts have been replaced to make the routes safe and access to the crags a lot easier. There are now over 900 routes on the island, spread over 20 individual crags. Climbing in the area is accessible to all levels, from beginner to advance, so anyone can take advantage of the many climbing activities on the island.

The national park and Mount Teide offer both ramblers and climbers the chance to explore this lunar landscape. Neil Armstrong once described the harsh volcanic landscape as the closest thing to the lunar landscape. The area has also been used as the backdrop for famous films including Star Wars and Planet of the Apes. The mountain, which is an extinct volcano, offers not only a playground for adventure seekers but also offers some of the most stunning landscape around. Many walkers look to the island for walking, especially during the winter.

The island is also popular with bird watchers who are keen to spot many of the famous birds which inhabit the sky in and around the island. The warm weather is also popular with the people looking for birds, as the climate is popular with many species during this period.

Beach goers also flock to the region in the winter due to the mild climate. With hundreds of activities on offer it is easy to see why the island is so popular with so many people. Between October and November, the average temperature is a comfortable 22-24 Celsius.
