Adventure sports in Uttaranchal!

In the last few years Uttaranchal has become synonymous with adventure and winter sports. The Kumoan and the Garhwal have numerous rivers with snow clad mountains which have been developed as destinations for white water rafting, boating, water skiing, angling, skiing, para gliding, hang gliding etc and more tourists are heading this way every winter to experience truly unforgettable moments.

White water rafting in the untamed rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi are marked out for experts but when they merge at Devprayag to form the Ganga the rapids are more suitable for amateurs under the supervision of experts. The negotiable stretch of the Ganges is from Kaudiyala to Rishikesh where the river has 12 major rapids over 36-kms long stretch.

Many private operators have their base at Rishikesh and Shivpuri (13 kms upstream from Rishikesh) and conduct activities on the river. The Yamuna between Mori and Tuni offers rapids that tourists can brave and the Mandakini between Chandrapuri and Rudraprayag and the rapids on Kali Ganga are for professionals.

Uttaranchal tourism has recently developed a 'still water' sports resort at Assan Barrage, in the Dehradun district, which is located at the foothills of the Shiwaliks and on the banks of river Yamuna. The resort is only 40-kms drive from Dehradun on the Dehradun-Chandigarh highway.

It offers activities like water skiing, speed boating, paddle boating, rowing, sailing, Canoeing and Kayaking.

The large slopes of Garhwal and Kumaon covered with seasonal snow are ideal place for skiing in the winter months. Auli, 14kms from Joshimath is probably the most well known Skiing destination in this part of the world. A 3 kms long slope ranging from a height of 2519 mts. to 3049 mts is a major attraction. Dayara Bugyal 28kms from Uttarkashi, Munsyari in the Pithorgarh district and Mundali in the Dehradun district are other skiing bases in the state.

Paragliding and parasailing are other favourites among tourists. There are also parasailing activities offered in other tourist destinations in the state like Mussorie , Rishikesh, Naukutchiyatal in Nainital, Dayara Bugyal and Pratap Nagar.

Adventure Tours In Egypt

Fishing in Lake Nasser, Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh:
One of the most famous places for fishing all over the world is Lake Nasser. It is approximately 310 miles in length (1550 square miles) and can reach a depth of 600 feet. Lake Nasser has arguably the best freshwater fishing in the world for both Nile perch and Tiger Fish. There are also several species of catfish; the legendary giant Vonda being the biggest. Two species of Tilapia also inhabit the lake and give a good account of themselves on a fly rod. There are some thirty two species of fish in the lake.

Birds Watching in Egypt:
There are about 150 kind of resident birds in Egypt. Egypt is a migration corridor which attracts some 280 additional kind of birds because it occupies a unique geographical location as a bridge between the continents of Europe, Asia and Africa and therefore millions of birds pass through the country on their way from Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Siberia and Central Asia to Eastern and Southern Africa each autumn, and on their way back each spring. Migration begins in the Winter months. Summer migration begins in early August.

Cycling in Egypt:
Bicycling along Egypt roads shaded by Sycamore Trees, flanked by fields of wildflowers and banks of the legendary Nile and let the wealth of Egypt hidden treasures and quiet beauty comes to life. Riding a bicycle has a way of turning the world into an ever-unfurling ribbon of sights, scents and sounds. Our trips feature road biking along Egypt's most scenic lanes. Mountain Climbing in St. Catherine in Egypt:
Mt. Moses, also Mt. Sinai, is honored by the three great monotheistic religions. The path of Moses, starts in a gentle slope and gets steep on the last bit where it ends at the valley of Elijah. The final steep climb leads over rocky steps to the summit. Just below the summit in a natural hollow in the granite the imprint of a camels foot can be made out. The magnificent view from the summit is worthwhile the effort of a 3 hour long climb to the top of Mt. Moses. 3600 steps skillfully arranged by a monk on penalty - lead to the gate of Stephanos, where he heard the confessions of the pilgrims and giving them absolution before letting them pass. The steep way down leads to points with extraordinary views, always the smell of herbal plants and the chirping birds at company.

Windsurfing in Egypt:
Cross shore, consistent daily thermal wind means you can set off and return easily from the sandy beach. It is shallow enough to practice beach or water starts or to feel confident you are not going to stray too far from home. There is flat water inside the moon shaped bay, with chop in the middle section and swells outside up to 4 or 5 feet during the windiest season, providing plenty of starboard hand ramps to play on. There is heaps of space and its easy to sail further upwind, blast downwind or to take advantage of the little Hookipa Bay. Here the swells wrap round the point to give small but perfectly positioned ramps. Great for learning jumps with coaching video feedback! Ideal conditions to let you just get on with your windsurfingall day

Desert Trekking in Bahariya Oasis, White Desert and Siwa Oasis in Egypt:
20 million dollars for a trip into space when you can go to the moon for so much less? OK, its not really the moon, but the landscape is surreal; alien in every way, and it changes from one moment to the next. It is the type of place that creates wonder in adults, where such feelings were long ago thought lost. It is a land not yet fully explored, with twists and turns that reveal ever changing landscapes. This is the Bahariya Oasis, and the nearby, or rather, encroaching western desert. The evenings bring simple pleasures, including well made meals cooked by the Bedouins on open fires, songs from shared cultures, a little primitive dancing accompanied by one real drum, and much handclapping, the Bedouins sing a traditional song incorporating the events of the day, which, as the trekkers begin to be caught up in the music, encourages them to dance. We sleep under the stars which, with not even the glow of a nearby village, sparkle and shine with the glow that few people will ever experience.

Adventure Holidays In Morocco

In North Africa, Morocco offers some of the most stunning and different landscapes, as well as intriguing and fascinating culture. In the last few years, its tourist industry has developed at an impressive rate, so as to meet the demands of all kinds of travellers, from those looking for arts and history, luxury and comfort or sheer adventure. The infrastructure of Morocco has also successfully emerged to welcome adventure travellers from all over the world.

Morocco offers countless adventure tours that include a number of exciting activities, including mountain trekking (characterised by several days long hikes that can include a summit climb) mountain biking, rock climbing and canyoning, as well as all sorts of white water sports that offer perfect chances of fishing and relaxing.

Many local and foreign tour operators offer well-organised adventure tours that comprise transportation, equipment and training and can even include accommodation, food and visits to places of cultural and natural interest.

For your mountain trekking expeditions you can hire the services of a guide in the main towns or villages of all hiking regions. Some villages even have an official guide office, but if there isn't one, you should check the guide's credentials in order to guarantee that he has received the appropriate training at the official guide college of Tabant.

You can also ask for advice from the Club Alpin Français, housed within the Toubkal National Park, or at several Gites d'Etape, which consist of humble rural houses that serve hot food and provide lodging for tourists and trekkers.

The Toubkal National Park in the High Atlas is by far the most popular climbing and trekking region in Morocco.

In the park you will find Morocco's highest peak, the Jbel Toubkal, with an altitude of 4167m/13671ft. I also recommend a trekking tour around the Ourika Valley starting at Setti Fatma, as well as a visit to Oukaimeden, which houses a fantastic ski resort. Other excellent trekking areas in the High Atlas are the Tassaout and Bougmez Valleys

Of course, those regions provide excellent opportunities for other adventure sports, such as rock climbing, canyoning and skiing. Moreover, a visit to these regions will give you a chance to discover the fascinating and incredibly hospitable Berber culture as well as some of the most impressive and beautiful Kasbahs in the world, especially around the Ouarzazate region, also known as 2The Land of the Thousand Kasbahs".

Come to Morocco and enjoy the wonderful opportunities of adventure travel that it provides, especially around the region of Marrakech. The Ochre City offers culture and a fascinating tradition, monuments and countless tourist attractions, as well as a delightful gastronomy and the widest range of shopping opportunities.
