Island Hopping and Snorkeling Tips

Island hopping is one of the main attractions in El Nido, Palawan. With its impressive seascapes, hidden lagoons, rich marine life, and crystal clear waters, it will be like an adventure in paradise. The scenery is simply stunning. Athough El Nido is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Palawan, the white-sand beaches are still less crowded compared to other popular and commercialized (in other words, crowded) beach resorts. Thus, you will be able to really enjoy a relaxing vacation and not regret getting an El Nido package. Most of the islands are perfect for swimming. But another activity most tourists look forward to when on an island hopping adventure is snorkeling. Considering Palawan's rich marine life, snorkeling is definitely something you should do. Here are some tips for the best snorkeling experience.

You wouldn't want to miss seeing beautiful corals and various species of fishes up close. You have already taken an El Nido package, so make the most out of it! Snorkeling isn't that difficult even for first timers. You just need to have the right equipment. The equipment may not be included in your package deal, but there are other tour operates that include the mask and snorkel in the package. You can check with your tour operator beforehand to be sure so will know whether you should bring your own equipment or not.

But first, you want to check the condition of your equipment before you get going. You don't want a foggy mask because you wouldn't be able to appreciate the rich marine life that much. But if the mask and snorkel is included in your El Nido package as a freebie, you can't really be choosy. You just have to defog the mask before you go snorkeling. You can use a dish liquid to clean the entire lens or if you have a bottle of Johnson's Baby Shampoo no tears formula, it will also be great. Make sure also to position the mask strap properly. You don't want water to get in the mask and disrupt your vision.

As much as you are excited for your El Nido package tour, safety should still be your priority. The last thing you want is getting a cramp while snorkeling. You know very well the dangers of getting cramps while in the water. Thus, it is best to do some stretching first before you go swimming and snorkeling. It is also better if you have a partner while snorkeling just in case. That is why it is preferable to book your El Nido package with a travel agency so you will be traveling with other tourists and perhaps a guide who can keep watch.
