The Best Adventure Holidays

From climbing up the side of a mountain to trekking through a rainforest in heat that would incapacitate a particularly resilient snake, adventure holidays are slowly becoming more and more common and more and more popular.

Whilst heading for the beach and pretending that you are in a hotter version of Britain for seven days may be just what some people need to unwind, more and more people are opting for less traditional answers to the usual beach holiday, looking for experiences that they simply cant get at home.

Visiting new cultures has also become a much more yearned for part of any holiday, whilst taking yourself to new extremes is also high up on peoples list of what now makes a perfect holiday. Yet, the only adventure holiday that is likely to give the beach a run for its money any time soon, is ski holidays.

Ski holidays are the perfect combination of thrills, relaxation, and surprisingly, even sun. With the thrill of the slopes and the luxury and comfort of the chalets, there is also the chance to enjoy as much night life as you want easily whilst experience sights that are sure to take even the most respiratory-sound persons breath away.

There are many reasons why such holidays have grown to be so popular over the last few years, from ease and the relatively low cost of France being so close right through to the simple breadth of experience these holidays have to offer. They combine all the key ingredients that people seem to look for: luxury in the chalets, a sun tan despite the cold, the chance to push yourself to your limits, and the chance to visit scenery that you might not normally get to see on holiday.

So if you want to experience an adventurous holiday, rather than trekking to the North Pole, this might just be the perfect place to start.

Universal Studios Islands of Adventure: Hulk Roller Coaster

You'll hear a loud noise as you enter Super Hero Island. You'll wonder if you're imagining things, could that be roaring? In case you're wondering what it is:

It's the rage of the Hulk roller coaster at Islands of Adventure!

You've come face-to-face with one of the most popular Islands of Adventure rides.

You want to know what's going on? Then enter Bruce Banner's lab to see what all this noise is about.

Islands of Adventure Hulk

Doctor Bruce Banner's got quite a set-up: you'll walk past power generators, Towers of Power and a Gamma Core, all of which he's set up to conduct his experiments on himself... and you.

He's trying to reverse the effects of the gamma radiation that turns him into the Hulk. Upon entering this Islands of Adventure attraction, you've volunteered your body to help him find a cure.

Television monitors are set up throughout the lab as you head toward the Hulk roller coaster's boarding area.

These monitors show you an animated history of how Dr. Bruce Banner became the Hulk, and what effects it's had on him, and what the Hulk's effects have been on the rest of the world.

Watch his story, because you'll be left to decide whether the Hulk is an evil monster that should be destroyed, or whether the Hulk is a true hero.

You'll see the green, glistening Hulk coaster pull up to the platform as you approach the boarding area. You'll also see the tunnel that your car will take you through when it's you're turn to participate in this experiment.

That tunnel is the entrance to the Gamma tube. Dr. Banner's intent is to use the tube to bombard himself, and you, with gamma particles.

He hopes to find a way to rid himself of the Hulk's rage forever, without evoking his own transformation into the Hulk once again.

So have a seat, pull the lap bar down over your head and strap yourself in - I'm sure nothing will go wrong with this experiment.

Tip: If you don't mind waiting an extra half hour, you'll find a" front row only" line to the left of the regular line when you get close to the Hulk Ride boarding area. It's worth the wait to sit in the front row at least once for this ride.

As your car begins to move into the Gamma tube, you'll set off on a normal climb up a typical roller coaster incline - seemingly. You'll hear Dr. Banner reassuring you that everything looks good and the experiment is going well.

It just might work this time.

If all goes well, you really have nothing to worry about.

If the experiment starts failing... well, without giving away too much information, let's just say that by the time you get to the Gamma tube's exit 150 feet away, you'll be moving at around 40 mph.

Welcome to the Hulk, Islands of Adventure-style. Get ready for high-speed twists, sharp turns, huge drops and plunges into misty tunnels.

If you survive the Hulk at Islands of Adventure, you'll be able to view photos of you and your party screaming while you were on the roller coaster.

Mt Everest Adventure

High above sea level, towers the Earths highest mountain dividing both Nepal and Tibet. This mountain is known as Mt Everest in western culture named after Sir George Everest in 1865, the British surveyor-general of India. In Nepal Mt Everest is known as Sagarmatha meaning the goddess of the sky and in Tibet it is known as Chomolungma meaning the mother goddess of the universe.

Mt Everest is 8,840m high (29,029ft) and is the highest mountain above sea level. Arguably Muana Kea in Hawaii is debated to be the highest mountain at 10,200m (33,464) from its base however it is not considered the highest as it is only 4,205m (13,796 ft) above sea level.

In 1953 the first ascent was made by the courageous Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and other records started shortly after such as the first woman to climb the summit in 1975 by Junko Tabei and then the first solo climb in 1980 by Reinhold Messner.

Mt Everest is one of natures most challenging and most gratifying adventures. Once you reach the summit you will literally be standing on top of the worlds highest peaks. There are many safety concerns when considering climbing Mt Everest and your fitness should be a major factor. However even novices can complete the climb but comes at the expense of hiring shirpas to help you reach your goal.

Take a flight into Kathmandu and begin your ascent to the highest point of your life. Events And Adventures Boston

Last week, while you pretended you were snowbound, Boston's most eligible singles enjoyed the Patriots' Monday night football game, they dined at two of the city's best eateries, and they enjoyed the holiday show at the Boston Pops. They went with their friends from (E&A), Events and Adventures, enjoying E&A's attention to detail in the planning and presentation of each get-together. They felt comfortable and relaxed as they met new people carefully pre-screened by the E&A staff, and they just simply had fun.

No one ever claimed that all the E&A gatherings were all glamour and Louboutin pumps. Events and Adventures planners understand that romance flourishes as easily over cream cheese frosting as with champagne and caviar. And on Saturday, when you felt the need of a little meaningful recreation, you could have joined your friends and flames from Events and Adventures, showing off your triple-toe loop at the ice rink, rolling toward 300 at the bowling lanes. No reason why the rink cannot generate some heat or the bowling alleys can't be lovers' lanes.

If you did have your heart set on a gala holiday gathering, a place to show-off your sparkly holiday finery, you could have attended Events and Adventures' holiday party, E&A's biggest party of the year. You would have enjoyed a full gourmet appetizer buffet, drink specials, and music pumped throughout the club for dancing all night long. You also would have taken home a gift bag filled with all sorts of holiday-themed goodies.

It's not too late to put a little extra magic and romance in your New Year. Find out how you can meet Boston's finest singles in a casual, comfortable atmosphere of common interests and camaraderie by visiting the website at www.lotsofevents.com. Or you can join the fun by calling 1-888-600-5999.

Universal Studios Islands of Adventure: Dragon Challenge

You'll take part in this adventure while you explore the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, at Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure. The thrills you'll experience during this adventure won't be easily forgotten!

The challenge waits for you in the deepest, darkest part of the castle. The walkway leading you to the castle is adorned with banners announcing the Triwizard Tournament, as well as banners representing the four contestants.

You'll be greeted by Weasly's crashed flying Ford Anglia - still running. Still honking.

You'll also pass by Hagrid's Hut and the Champion's tent.

Then you'll make way into the dark passageways of the castle. When you're in the castle, you can't miss the Goblet of Fire trophy displayed high on a mantle.

You'll move on from there, beginning your trip through drafty, dimly lit passages. Look above you and check out illuminated floating candles.

But your exploration won't end at magical floating candles.

Continue further into more long, dark, narrow tunnels, and watch out for a large, cracked wooden door. If you listen closely, you'll hear something behind it.

It'll sound like growling from a large beast. It is growling from a large beast.

If you wait long enough, the dragons behind the door will sense you're there and lash out at the door trying to get through.

At the other end of tunnels, you'll arrive at the tent where the Dragon challenge is waiting for you.

Ahead, you will see the boarding area where you will face the really thrilling part of this challenge!

You'll have to choose which dragon you want to conquer: the Chinese Fireball or the Hungarian Horntail. Above you, in the star-lit sky, you'll see silhouettes of giant, winged creatures flying overhead.

It's time to face the Dragon Challenge!

Dragon challenge is an inverted duel roller coaster- the only one in the world!

It is made up of two tracks.

The Chinese Fireball and Hungarian Horntail navigate two different tracks and offer two complete different and exciting rides. The Chinese Fireball can go up to 60 miles per hour, while Hungarian Horntail runs at top speed of 55 mph.

Although the Chinese Fireball is faster, the Hungarian Horntail has more loops and twists. Both rides last for two minutes and 25 seconds and include five inversions each.

A huge surprise you'll experience on this attraction is the near-misses where you'll within inches from walls, land, and riders on the other coaster.
