My return to Orlando after 20 years came with new experiences as well as old memories. On my last visit in 1991 the Islands of Adventure was not yet the attraction it is today. In fact it didn't even exist. At the time the only attraction from Universal Orlando Resort which was open was Universal Studios.

It's amazing what can change over the course of 2 decades and my eyes were opened to new attractions which I had never before encountered. Universal Studios is still a prominent feature, but right next door you have the City Walk, an entertainment complex with an array of bars, clubs and restaurants, and the Islands of Adventure, a separate park from Universal Studios which still features popular movies as its theme.

As you approach the park's gates you will be greeted by a huge lighthouse standing sentinel. The story behind this is that it calls in travellers from all over who have built attractions reflecting the tales of their adventures, hence the name Islands of Adventure. This is anecdote is augmented as you reach the park's entrance and see an amalgamation of architecture and various styles of building, adding charm and imagination to your experience.

The first land you may encounter is the Dr. Suess' Landing where you can find a whole host of familiar characters from the books and movies. This area is more suitable for younger children however as the rides a fairly sedate, but entertaining nonetheless.

The most popular area of the park is, without a doubt, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and is the park's latest attraction. Hogsmeade is the imaginary location of Harry Potter's universe bought to life with startling attention to detail. For any fans of the books and movies, this truly is a dream come true as you walk through the entrance only to be greeted by the Hogwart's Express steaming and tooting away as if it had literally alighted at the station.

There are many shops to explore on your visit, including Honeyduke's and Zonko's, selling confectionary and joke supplies. Olivander's has also been bought to life, selling a range of magic wands and even exciting guests with its own show. There is even an owl post office, so you can send your postcards and letters back home.

For the thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies, the Dragon Challenge is a fantastic duel rollercoaster fashioned after the Hungarian Horntale and Chinese Fireball dragons from the books. The ride itself is quite intense with several loops and corkscrews, travelling at high speeds.

For people who aren't rollercoaster fans, The Forbidden Journey is a seamless ride simulator and makes you feel as if you are really flying through the hallways of Hogwarts, through the Forbidden Forest and finally speeding through a Quidditch game. You might just bump into a few characters as well.

Jurassic park is the next stop and once again the Islands of Adventure don't fail to impress on first impressions as you enter underneath a huge gate, recognisable from the movie. There isn't much in the way of thrill rides however, with the exception of the Jurassic Park River Adventure, taking you through the park to see various harmless dinosaurs, before veering off course after a mysterious accident. As you enter the restricted zone, there are signs of a velociraptor outbreak and evidence of a few attacks on the unfortunate workers. Coming face to face with a T-Rex is a terrifying experience, but just as you are coming to terms with the massive creature, you will drop down a rather steep slide and eventually soaked at the bottom. This ride was a lot of fun and caused uncontrollable laughter as the passengers look around to see their drenched friends.

We finally entered the Marvel Super Hero Island where a comic book geek's dreams come true. As you walk through the crowd, you might just bump into Captain America or Spiderman taking photo opportunities with the guests. There are some truly spectacular rides in this area of the park as well, the most noticeable one being The Incredible Hulk, a huge green rollercoaster which makes a deafening noise as it speeds passengers overhead.

This is by far one of the most popular rollercoasters in the park, with queues reaching up to two hours waiting time. Once you ride The Incredible Hulk you will soon realise why it is so popular. There is no chain lift to ascend the passengers, but instead a launcher, which shoots you out of a tunnel where you will immediately enter a twist followed by a loop and then a series of corkscrews. This ride is not for the timid!
Another spectacular ride is the Spiderman Experience. Considering this particular ride is almost over 10 years old, it is still way ahead of its time. Similar to Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, this is a motion simulator conveying the illusion of falling and climbing skyscrapers very effectively only this time in 3D. The result is seamless and is astounding.

Finally, we had time for one last ride and that was the vertical launcher, Dr. Doom. This particular ride isn't anything special and has various emulations in other theme parks, but I had never been on a vertical launcher before so I had to try it. I have to admit that I was more scared of this than any of the rollercoasters. You are shot straight up almost 100 ft. and get a very good view of Orlando! My only issue with this ride is that it did not last nearly long enough and I wanted a few more launches; a clear sign that I had shunned my fear for this type of ride.

The Islands of Adventure was an entirely new experience for me and had come into existence during my 20 year absence from Orlando. It is clear to see why this park was so popular, adopting many well-known cultural and entertaining themes. Although this park is available with the regular Universal Studios tickets, we were able to enter with our Orlando Flexticket, with which the Universal Orlando Resort attractions are included with admission.

This park appealed to all age groups with something for everyone and although you might need be a fan of the movies which have been bought to life in this park, the rides and atmosphere will surely excite and astound you. Perhaps I will visit in another 20 years and see what other changes have took place in my absence!

Hawaii - Islands of Adventure

Famous for its surfing beaches, Mai Tai's & world famous shopping, Hawaii is a destination on top of many people's travel lists. Among the many reasons why so many people choose Hawaii, adventure touring is high up on my list. You can do almost everything here which range from parasailing to volcano safaris to surfing lessons on Waikiki beach. Below is my story of my Hawaii adventure.

Shark Diving is one of my favourite adventure activities and located on the North Shore of Oahu's island you can jump in the water with a large school of Galapagos sharks. These mid depth sharks follow the sounds of fishing boats in hope of a free feed and the sound of any boat within these waters will bring the predators to the surface. Underwater it is such a surreal experience watching these sharks coming within centimetres of the cage and from all directions. Depending on the day you can see around 20 of these sharks around the cage and the boat.

Hawaii's marine life doesn't stop at just sharks, dolphin swims are very popular whether you are swimming with a wild pod of dolphins or taking a visit to Honolulu's Sea Life Park. At this marine park the dolphin swim includes a kiss and cuddle from the dolphins which makes for great photos but you also get to have a play around with them too. Getting a dorsal tow from two of the dolphins and being pushed across the surface of the water are just some of the activities that you can do with these beautiful creatures. Of all the tours in Hawaii that you can do this one is what will make all your friends and family envious. Within the park there are other species of marine life such as penguins, sea lions, sea turtles, stings rays and other tropical reef fish. In the reef tank you can put on something like a space helmet and actually walk through the aquarium and hand feed the friendly Eagle Ray. The sea trek is probably the most unique adventure activity I have ever experienced.

If you are after unique tours and experiences then another activity to consider is the Atlantis Submarine. Submerging down to 104ft below the water's surface to ship and plane wrecks is a wondrous experience. Among the wrecks many reef fish such as Butterfly Fish, Amberjack's, Porcupine Puffer-fish as well as Sea Turtles, reef sharks and if you're lucky you may see humpback whales in season. At 104ft below the reefs looks other worldly among the wrecks but on the contrary the wrecks provide shelter so this delicate eco system can thrive.

Hawaii is a place of unlimited adventure, excitement and fun for the whole family. The activities here are no like no other place on Earth so don't miss out on booking some sort of adventure tour. Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Orlando - Two Parks, One Place

No matter if you have come to Florida to escape the cold and stay warm, or just to enjoy the cool breezes; the time of year to visit Florida is not always relevant due to it's relatively close temperatures all year round, which makes perfect for places like the beach or theme parks. Well skip the beach today and head on over to Orlando, the Theme Park Capital of the World! Orlando offers many different competing companies who each host their own theme parks, however I am biased on this issue and I must say that Universal Studios has the, not one but, two parks that are best worth your time and money. Not only that, but the parks are literally right across the street from each other, making it easy to visit both parks in one day if you're able to land one of those Two Parks for One deals available, or just visit both over a couple of days. Alright, put on that sunscreen and pop that Dramamine, cause we're going on a non-stop hop from ride to ride, which in my opinion, are the most important aspects of a theme park.

We'll start off at the original Universal Studios which was made famous for "riding the movies". Overcome your fears and take each ride's terror with a grain of salt, because remember, it's only fake... or is it? We'll start off with the thrill rides that are based on some previous Universal films, such as Jaws! You've seen the movie, now take a boat ride out on the water where nothing is safe from the terror of the deep. Everyone thought he was dead, but Jaws proves he still very much alive and extremely hungry in this thrill ride for families and people of all ages. Like shoot 'em ups? How about slaying aliens? Working for the Men in Black? Well here's your chance to try and join their ranks by competing with your friends and family in a M.I.B. Training mission that goes wrong, pitting you up against evil aliens in order to save the world. The outcome of the mission/ride is determined by how high your score is, so become trigger happy. Earn enough points and they just might make you into an M.I.B. Agent!

Next, we'll discover the two roller coasters, my favorite type of attractions, which are located almost right next to each other for convenience. Venture deep into the desert, into the forbidden sacred temple, and unleash the wrath of the mummy! Fast, dark and scary, this ride becomes a sensory overload for anyone riding it for the first time where your adrenaline is pumping due to the combination of fear and excitement. This next ride drives people... crazy. The new Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is a roller coaster designed to push you to the limit with the insane speed, loops and drops of a roller coaster combined with fast rock or techno music that you get to pick. The entire ride is videotaped and can be viewed afterwards to see your shock and awe.

The park also has many rides and attractions for the entire family, such as the E.T. Adventure, Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast, Terminator 2 in 3-D, Shriek in 4-D and the new Simpsons Ride! So come on down to Orlando and enjoy all of the excitement with your family or a group of friends.

Our next stop is right across the street, and is by far, my favorite park out of any in the state of Florida. Universal Studio's Islands of Adventure has out-done itself and many other parks when it comes to making the scenery fit the theme of the rides of the areas it holds them in, and in this case, islands. Make your first stop to the Super Hero Island and take the job as a reporter in the Adventures of Spider Man, a 3-D motion simulator that takes your around the city as all of the Spider Man villains team up to overwhelm Spider Man and hold New York City for ransom. Jump to the sky and fall to the ground in Doctor Doom's Fearfall. Then hit up the Incredible Hulk roller coaster which I'm sure you saw on your way into park, screaming at rageful speeds. This is a must ride roller coaster for any coaster jockey, as you go from 0 - 40 miles per hour in exactly 2 seconds. Speaking of roller coasters, head over to the opposite side of the park at some time during the day and face the Dueling Dragons! Choose your side, Fire or Ice, and ride your dragon as you face off against the other, blazing right past the other dragon in this dual coaster phenomenon.

Other must experience rides are Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls, Popeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges, and Jurassic Park's River Adventure. You will get wet and you will be scared, so be prepared! Some other family style rides would include The Cat in the Hat ride that pushes your mind to a whole new extreme.

A friendly reminder from myself, a well experienced theme park explorer, to always follow a few simple rules when attending Universal's Parks or any other Theme Park:

1. Always wear sunscreen. You will burn without it or the shade.
2. Keep hydrated. Florida's heat will keep you thirsty.
3. Bring extra clothes or a swim suit for those water rides.
4. Always pay attention to height restrictions for kids. These are for safety only.
5. Never ride more than you can handle. This will keep you from getting sick

With that said, I know you will enjoy your time in Orlando, especially when exploring these two fabulous theme parks at Universal Studios!

You'll hear a loud noise as you enter Super Hero Island. You'll wonder if you're imagining things, could that be roaring? In case you're wondering what it is:

It's the rage of the Hulk roller coaster at Islands of Adventure!

You've come face-to-face with one of the most popular Islands of Adventure rides.

You want to know what's going on? Then enter Bruce Banner's lab to see what all this noise is about.

Islands of Adventure Hulk

Doctor Bruce Banner's got quite a set-up: you'll walk past power generators, Towers of Power and a Gamma Core, all of which he's set up to conduct his experiments on himself... and you.

He's trying to reverse the effects of the gamma radiation that turns him into the Hulk. Upon entering this Islands of Adventure attraction, you've volunteered your body to help him find a cure.

Television monitors are set up throughout the lab as you head toward the Hulk roller coaster's boarding area.

These monitors show you an animated history of how Dr. Bruce Banner became the Hulk, and what effects it's had on him, and what the Hulk's effects have been on the rest of the world.

Watch his story, because you'll be left to decide whether the Hulk is an evil monster that should be destroyed, or whether the Hulk is a true hero.

You'll see the green, glistening Hulk coaster pull up to the platform as you approach the boarding area. You'll also see the tunnel that your car will take you through when it's you're turn to participate in this experiment.

That tunnel is the entrance to the Gamma tube. Dr. Banner's intent is to use the tube to bombard himself, and you, with gamma particles.

He hopes to find a way to rid himself of the Hulk's rage forever, without evoking his own transformation into the Hulk once again.

So have a seat, pull the lap bar down over your head and strap yourself in - I'm sure nothing will go wrong with this experiment.

Tip: If you don't mind waiting an extra half hour, you'll find a" front row only" line to the left of the regular line when you get close to the Hulk Ride boarding area. It's worth the wait to sit in the front row at least once for this ride.

As your car begins to move into the Gamma tube, you'll set off on a normal climb up a typical roller coaster incline - seemingly. You'll hear Dr. Banner reassuring you that everything looks good and the experiment is going well.

It just might work this time.

If all goes well, you really have nothing to worry about.

If the experiment starts failing... well, without giving away too much information, let's just say that by the time you get to the Gamma tube's exit 150 feet away, you'll be moving at around 40 mph.

Welcome to the Hulk, Islands of Adventure-style. Get ready for high-speed twists, sharp turns, huge drops and plunges into misty tunnels.

You'll take part in this adventure while you explore the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, at Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure. The thrills you'll experience during this adventure won't be easily forgotten!

The challenge waits for you in the deepest, darkest part of the castle. The walkway leading you to the castle is adorned with banners announcing the Triwizard Tournament, as well as banners representing the four contestants.

You'll be greeted by Weasly's crashed flying Ford Anglia - still running. Still honking.

You'll also pass by Hagrid's Hut and the Champion's tent.

Then you'll make way into the dark passageways of the castle. When you're in the castle, you can't miss the Goblet of Fire trophy displayed high on a mantle.

You'll move on from there, beginning your trip through drafty, dimly lit passages. Look above you and check out illuminated floating candles.

But your exploration won't end at magical floating candles.

Continue further into more long, dark, narrow tunnels, and watch out for a large, cracked wooden door. If you listen closely, you'll hear something behind it.

It'll sound like growling from a large beast. It is growling from a large beast.

If you wait long enough, the dragons behind the door will sense you're there and lash out at the door trying to get through.

At the other end of tunnels, you'll arrive at the tent where the Dragon challenge is waiting for you.

You'll have to choose which dragon you want to conquer: the Chinese Fireball or the Hungarian Horntail. Above you, in the star-lit sky, you'll see silhouettes of giant, winged creatures flying overhead.

Dragon challenge is an inverted duel roller coaster- the only one in the world!

It is made up of two tracks.

The Chinese Fireball and Hungarian Horntail navigate two different tracks and offer two complete different and exciting rides. The Chinese Fireball can go up to 60 miles per hour, while Hungarian Horntail runs at top speed of 55 mph.

Although the Chinese Fireball is faster, the Hungarian Horntail has more loops and twists. Both rides last for two minutes and 25 seconds and include five inversions each.

A huge surprise you'll experience on this attraction is the near-misses where you'll within inches from walls, land, and riders on the other coaster.

Trinidad and Tobago, Islands of Adventure

Trinidad and Tobago, two islands set in the Caribbean Sea. The name Caribbean conjures up images of blue seas and white sand beaches set against green hills. It brings to mind images of lying on the beach sipping pina coladas or rum and coca-cola. For the holiday traveler Tobago meets those expectations. For the outdoor enthusiast however, Trinidad and Tobago can be islands of outdoor recreation adventure with hiking trails and hidden waterfalls, bird and turtle watching, cycling through verdant countryside or kayaking past wildlife filled forests.

Trinidad and Tobago has a range of hiking opportunities with many of the hikes leading to waterfalls. Rincon waterfall in the Rincon valley on the north coast of Trinidad is a 250-foot vertical drop. The hike begins in the valley amidst small farms, fording several crystal clear streams and then winds uphill, culminating with a steep descent to the base of the waterfall. The 32 kilometer trail from Blanchissuese to Matelot on Trinidad's north coast is considered a jewel. Along the hike one alternates from unspoiled rainforest to untouched beaches. Starting from Blanchissuese you encounter Paria Bay after two to three hours (depending on the hiker's level of fitness). A short trail from the beach leads to Paria waterfall where there is a deep clear pool below the falls surrounded by heliconia, fringed lilies, and philodendron. If you choose to continue the hike after Paria Bay, the trail rambles over a succession of small ridges, crossing several small streams, until you next encounter Gran Tacarib, which is a 1.2 kilometer crescent shaped beach. From Gran Tacarib the trail continues to the Madamas river and then Madamas Beach. Both Madamas Beach and Gran Tacarib are nesting sites for Leatherback turtles, during the nesting season of March to September. After Madamas it is a continuation of the up and down hiking and crossing small streams and then the Petite Riviere river. The trail continues through abandoned estate lands with cocoa, coffee, tonka bean, nutmeg and papaya (pawpaw) until you arrive at the Matelot River and the village of Matelot.

For those who want to lie on the beach but also engage in some outdoor activity there are several less strenous hikes. Argyle waterfall on the outskirts of Roxborough in Tobago is an easy hike along the Argyle River to a three level waterfall. The hike to the Rio Seco waterfall on Trinidad's north-east coast goes through semi-cultivated land and then through stately mora forests to a small waterfall with a refreshing emerald pool, ideal for swimming.

Both Trinidad and Tobago abound with birds and at almost every turn an avian spectacle can be observed. Trinidad and Tobago has some of the most diverse bird species to be found in one location with over 460. This variety in species can perhaps be attributed to the fact that the islands lie close to South America so migration is easier, resulting in unusually diverse fauna. Asa Wright Nature Center, is Trinidad and Tobago's premier birding location and it has been widely recognized as one of the most successful eco-tourism stories in the world. The listing of birds that can be seen at this center is too long for this article but has been identified in the vicinity of 159. Some of these birds include; Purple Honeycreeper, Green Honeycreeper, Crested Oropendola, Silver-beaked Tanager, White-necked Jacobin hummingbirds, Bananaquit, Red-legged Honeycreeper, White-chested Emerald hummingbird, Cocoa Thrush, Chestnut Woodpecker, Great Antshrike. This Nature Center is located at a height of approximately 1,200 feet in the hills of the Northern Range, seven miles from the town of Arima. It is reached by a single lane road that winds through verdant countryside dotted by small villages and isolated houses. There are numerous trails throughout the property and very knowledgeable guides.

Grafton Wildlife Sanctuary, Tobago, is a former cocoa and coconut estate that was destroyed by Hurricane Flora in 1963 and as a result was converted into a wildlife sanctuary. It is approx. 200 acres in size and is covered in secondary forest. There are three main forest trails. As you enter, the first trail on the right leads downhill and is relatively short. The second trail on the left also gradually leads downhill and then eventually climbs uphill. The main trail, which is directly facing the entrance, leads uphill and winds past several abandoned estate buildings and stables. There are benches along the main trail and at some points they provide panoramic views. There are at least three smaller trails that branch off from the main uphill trail but these are not always maintained. The three main forest trails are maintained. It is possible to spend an enjoyable hour or an intense four hours. The entire sanctuary abounds with birds of varied species.

Trinidad and Tobago are islands in the Caribbean Sea so there are myriad opportunities for kayaking. However for those who do not want to contend with large waves, ocean swells and ocean currents, Trinidad and Tobago offers a choice of sheltered saltwater and freshwater kayaking opportunities. Two kayaking areas of particular note are Bon Accord Lagoon and the Godineau River.

The azure waters of Buccoo Bay and the Bon Accord Lagoon in Tobago are sheltered by the offshore Buccoo reef, providing a kayaking area with only gentle swells. Kayak rentals are available at the nearby Storebay and also at Pigeon Point. The fringing Mangrove swamps of the Bon Accord Lagoon provide a scenic contrast to the white sand beaches along Pigeon Point and at the center of Buccoo bay. The offshoots of the reef also shelter the adjacent Milford Bay, allowing one to kayak to the south-east from Bon Accord Lagoon around Pigeon Point and into Milford Bay or vice-versa.

The Godineau River in south Trinidad, also known as the South Oropouche River, is one of the rivers in Trinidad that provides a year round kayaking opportunity as the water level is always sufficient. Kayaking in the Godineau area takes you through a variety of habitats, from saltwater mangrove swamp to fresh water marshland to partially cultivated areas. A variety of birdlife can be seen on these kayak trips including Scarlet Ibis, Southern Lapwing, Osprey, Savannah Hawk, Wattled Jacana, Cattle Egret, Yellow-hooded Blackbird, Lesser Yellowlegs, Black-bellied Whistling Duck and a variety of migrating ducks (during the northern winter). This kayak trip can be started either from the sea along the area known as the Mosquito Creek or inland from the Woodland area.

Trinidad's network of old agricultural & oilfield roads plus (relatively) quiet country roads, along with hiking paths provide a range of surfaces and environments for cycling. In addition terrain ranges from flat land to rolling inclines to hillsides. For those with a preference for road biking almost every area of Trinidad has country roads with reduced vehicle traffic. The cross-country rider will be able to find undulating land with natural vistas. Those whose interest lies in mountain biking can find forest trails with logs, bamboo and streams across the trail requiring navigation and dexterity.

My husband and I have over-baby proofed our house (if such a thing is possible), and consider ourselves safe parents. Furniture bolted to the wall and sharp corners covered; you know, that type of thing.

My youngest daughter, Allison, is an adventurer and stinker of high caliber. I once went upstairs for, I kid you not, one minute to use the bathroom. During that time, Allison managed to get her highchair, push it into the middle of the living room floor, knock it over, and climb on top of it. When I came back, she was proudly standing on top, hands on hips like she was the conquering queen of the living room.

Well, on this particular occasion, I came into the living room and noticed Allison's bright yellow toy phone lying on the floor with the battery cover removed. This was not any small feat. That battery cover was firmly fastened with a screw and taped over.

Paranoid parents that we were, we wisely decided tape would be in order just in case.

Well, Allison managed to pry the battery cover off; tape, screw and all. As I was picking up the toy phone and the slobbery battery cover, I saw the batteries had been removed. With a sharp, slightly panicked eye, I began to scan the floor for anything shiny. "There," I thought, "there is one. Two? No, there should be three!" I was on my hands and knees searching the floor when my husband, Jim, came in.

"I'm off to my dental appointment. What are you doing?" He asked.

He watched me for a few seconds crawling around on the toy-strewn floor muttering and cursing. He asked again, "Rose, what are you doing?"

I stood and looked at him. The panic set in a bit deeper and I blurted, "Allison ate some batteries!"

"Batteries!" Allison yelled. Then she began to giggle and crawl around on the floor, muttering and cursing like her mama.

Eyes wide, he asked me, "Are you sure?"

"No," I replied.

"No? No, she didn't eat batteries?"

"Yes. No. I can't find the batteries."

"So, maybe she ate the batteries?"

"Yes."

"Should I stay? Should we go to the clinic?" Jim asked. He was beginning to panic too.

We agreed I should go to the clinic with the kids and call him at the dentist if anything exciting was going to come to pass.

He left and I quickly picked up the phone and dialed the clinic. I explained to the woman on the other end what had happened and that I was going to drive over immediately. Then I figured out I had dialed the wrong number.

I tried again and the perky woman on the other end of the phone was very nice and said, "Yes - come quickly. I'll tell the doctor you are on your way and we can get you into x-ray right when you get here."

OK. Fine. When we arrived, the woman at the desk recognized us. We're regulars, you see, but I'll save those stories for another time. She led us back to x-ray and we waited. Allison and Ashley immediately began to argue over the magazines on the little table next to their seats.

"Calgon, take me away", I thought. Instead, the x-ray technician took me away with my children to get an x-ray of Allison's tummy.

We waited in x-ray and some minutes later the doctor arrived with the films in hand. "Yep. There they are." On the lighted box in front of me was my two-year-old's abdomen. Bright bones and other dense innards were immediately visible, but the most visible objects in the x-ray were the two batteries my baby ate. They were bright like two little moons at night and perfectly round.

The doctor explained that we would need to go to Children's Hospital to have them removed. The removal process would involve a sedative (for Allison, not me) and something akin to a plumber's drain snake.

I called the dentist's office and asked the receptionist to tell Jim to get out of there immediately and come home. "What's wrong?" she asked. I told her about the phone and the missing button batteries. There was silence on the other end of the line, then she said, "I won't ask. I'll tell Jim to get home. I hope everything comes out okay." I think she was trying her very best not to laugh. Rolling my eyes, I hung up the phone.

When we arrived at the hospital, the doctor announced that she had done a bit of research on button batteries while she waited for us to arrive, and decided it would be okay to let them pass.

I won't describe the ending other than to say everything came out okay with little fuss. You will have to imagine the details of that for yourself.

What I will tell you, though, is if you are the parent of a little adventurer and connoisseur of small objects, be wary. According to Safe Kids Worldwide (http://www.usa.safekids.org), in 2004, airway obstruction was the leading cause of accidental injury-related death among infants under age one.

We thought that toy phone was safe, but had we tested the cover, I bet we would have been able to remove the back with a little effort.

Preventing a choking accident is easy enough, so why not take these steps to be sure your home is safe?

Cut food into bite-sized pieces, and be especially careful of foods like hot-dogs and carrots.

Avoid letting younger kids play with balloons. They are easily popped and the little pieces are a definite choking hazard.

Take the time to look for small toys and items that may be on the floor or anywhere your young child can reach. This is especially important in households with more than one child. I am constantly picking up Allison's older sister's Barbie shoes and jewelry. This is a never-ending quest, and my vacuum has suffered greatly. Better the vacuum than my kid.

And, finally, it is always a great idea to bone up on first-aid. Check with your local medical center or clinic to see if they offer classes.

Obviously, I am not a doctor, so this is simply advice from one parent to another. If you have a serious choking accident (especially if your child is unable to breathe), call 911 or seek immediate medical attention.

We were extremely lucky to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands Adventure part of Universal's resort Orlando, Florida in its first week of the official opening. Was it busy? Yes Did we enjoy our visit? Yes, very much Did the new ride 'Harry Potter and The Forbidden Journey' live up to our expectations? Yes absolutely, this ride is amazing. If you are planning a visit I hope that you find the following tips useful:

* Plan your visit for later in the day (I suggest 4pm onwards). Everybody appears to be heading here first on arrival at the park, plus guests at Universal resort are granted early entrance (before the park officially opens) so trying to beat the queues in the morning, currently appears impossible. In the morning we visited there was a queue just to enter the Harry Potter section; we returned much later in the day and walked straight into this section.

* If you are going to ride 'Harry Potter and The Forbidden Journey' you will need to put bags, loose items in the lockers before queuing to ride (there is a small pocket to store phones, wallets etc on the ride but you have to be quick as boarding is fast) so perhaps plan to ride before making any major purchases as the lockers are not that big (eg you couldn't fit a wand in the lockers!).

* If there is a queue for the lockers use the other entrance: go through Fitch's Emporium to the right of the Castle.

* If you are wearing flip-flops be prepared to grip on with your feet when riding 'Harry Potter and The Forbidden Journey'.

* If you don't get time to visit the shops you can buy Harry Potter Merchandise at other shops in Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios, Orlando International Airport and Universal's Online shop.

* Butterbeer: There is a Butterbeer wagon in Hogsmeade Village, if the queues here are long try The Hog's Head Pub, where you may find the queues shorter, they also offer regular and frozen options whereas the street wagon only offers regular Butterbeer.

* Owl Post - If you buy a postcard at Owl Post ask the cashier to stamp your postcard with an official Hogsmeade Village postmark.

* The Three Broomsticks: there is outside seating to the rear with fantastic views of Hogwart's Castle, which also makes a great photo opportunity.

Finally reaching on this day to Baralacha pass at 16400 ft. above sea le el. After this trek you will reach on Manali – Leh road, much easier to came back from here onwards by hiring a car etc.

The second most interesting trek is Chandrakhani – Malana trek.

In which one had pass through Beas Valley to Parbati Valley going through Malana village known to be a oldest democratic village of the world. The trek will begin from Rumsu which 6kms. above Naggar village. Climbing from Rumsu through dense forests of cedar, spruce and oaks. One can have fascinating view of Pir Panjal valley from there. First day halt will be at Chaklani at 3300 mtr. below the chandrakhani pass. Chandrakhani is one of the most beautiful Passes in the state of Himachal Pradesh with wide snow covered slopes leading up to it and a thick carpet of birch, spruce and bhojpatra on chich ancient manuscripts were used to written upon. Beyond the pass lies legendary village of Malana ruled by Devta Jamlu. People obey Jamlu devta by heart and soul and inspires total obedience. Malana is having its own unique culture, custom and religion. Third day trek will take to till Rasol village and then to Chalal. Final day trek will be of only 2 kms. through Parbati and crossing over a bridge at Kasol village, the road will lead you to Bhuntar in Kullu valley from there onwards people can go towards Mandi- Chandigarh, can came back to Kullu-Manali or can board into Plane at Bhuntar airport.

If people want have much more fun then they can opt for white water rafting at Pirdi or can head towards Great Himalayan National Park which is approximately 25kms. from Bhuntar for Tirthan – Sainj trek. For this trek one has to take permission from the forest department at Shamshi just 1km. from Bhuntar.

When I first went to a Malaysian restaurant I was ten and from that moment on it was my food of choice. I was hooked. All my friends decided that I was crazy visiting the same restaurant every weekend, sometimes on my own. Most of my friends thought that my obsession with the Asian food had gone far enough, but one had faith. My friend Tanya decided that although my mission was born out of a love of spicy pancakes, she was going to accompany me on my wild and albeit slightly deranged adventure. So we planned our trip down to the last minute and to her credit Tanya was just as excited as I was in the end.

The morning of our departure, we were nervous, but with maps, tickets and passports in hand we took flight.

In the air looking down below at the country which had inspired the whole trip, we reflected on our journey. From a ten-year-old fussy eater to the grown woman sat on the plane excited about the cuisine that was waiting in on the ground below. The journey we had taken had been born out of sheer lunacy, but we were bound to have an amazing time.

When we landed in Kuala Lumpur I was tired and wanted to get to the hotel as quickly as possible, but then during the taxi journey to the hotel I saw all the delicious culinary delights that were on offer. From that moment on I was determined to visit all the street stalls and the small local restaurants dotted around the capital.

After a short nap we left the hotel and headed to the centre, the jostling atmosphere made us both come alive.

The atmosphere was so alien to our own, but at the same time I felt as if I had come home for the first time.

A mixture of Malay, Chinese and Indian culture, the country reflects the world of today, a true mix of people, flavour and diversity.

On our journey of food discovery we encountered many tastes, people and customs. The best times were spent observing the people of the region, jostling down crowded streets and cooking a delightful mix of meats, spices and flavours. The street stall owners cook incredible meals from their memories, recipes that have been passed down by generations, altered and adapted by the varying cultures fluctuating in the area.

The rest of my trip was a blur of historical sites, food and more food. We travelled through the country listening purely to our stomachs and their needs. We came back several pounds heavier, but our hearts and souls were cleansed, leaving our minds lighter and at ease.

The wave rose, its tip splintering into crystal drops. All seven colors of the rainbow were reflected in the droplets, which hung in midair before returning to the sea’s green depths, the sun was setting over Ha long Bay as my partner and I paddled our kayak against a strong current.

In some place, Ha Long’s waters lie still. In others especially those exposed to the open, the water is choppy. In place the waves rush against rocks, the water hissing as it hits, discharging plumes of white foam. There times and places where the swell was so great that even an experienced sailor would have been cowed, let alone amateur kayakers like ourselves, come from the city to try a new water sport.

The swift current inside Ba Ham Cave evoked strong feelings as we struggled to push our fragile craft through three chambers where darkness has ruled for thousands of years.

The water raced around rocks covered with razor – sharp barnacles, the current threatening to shatter our kayak against the rocks.

Ha Long Bay draws travelers who enjoy a challenge. Declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO, Ha Long’s wild scenery encourages visitors to test their strength and endurance. Alone in the wilderness, the only sounds were those of the waves and the sea birds, I left lost as we searched out spots of interest – fishing village like Cua Van Hang Luon and Hang Manh, Ba Men Temple and Ba Ham Lake…

After hours spent fighting the waves our arms were weary. We carried only a water bottle and a camera in a waterproof bag.

The last game in Kinect Space Adventures is Pop, a little worm works by a meaningless pastime. Here you have some flapping his arms to float in the air, while you go forward and backward in order to exploit the three dimensional space you are in. The point is to pop bubbles, and there is no fun. The bubbles come from both top and bottom and from each side, and the whole thing is just frustrating. At first it seems simple enough, but it develops quickly into a game that requires more than you are able to provide. Kinect doing its job, but the game is built in a way that requires faster reactions than what an average person will be able to achieve with the whole body. An analog stick would fit better.

Apart from the Space pop offering them different activities in Kinect Adventures of pleasant fun. The game is structured in a very family friendly way that lets you proceed as you wish. All courses and activities are immediately available in Free Play, but if you want you can take part in an adventure mode where you can win trophies and various prizes for the Xbox your avatar.

This is still not enough to maintain interest over time. Kinect Adventures is a very nice and polished game with colorful graphics and great, but it lacks content. Each of which is solid and fun activities (excluding Space Pop), but you made so small that the whole game almost appears to be a demo of a larger product. You get a good first impression, have fun a few hours, and after it goes a little tired and lost quite big drive to go further. Exactly this is actually quite suck. I like Kinect Adventures, and I want to play any more of it, but I did not bother to go through the same stuff over again.

You can play along with a friend, but this game does not add much. To be two pieces in a rubber boat down a river may be fun once or twice, but it offers more challenges than it's worth. Reflex Ridge is a little better with since one can compete to inroads, but for the rest of the package you earn very little to be two.

Conclusion

As an introduction to Kinect Kinect Adventures works well. It is a completed and steady game that gets the job done. The different activities you can take part in demonstrating all the different aspects of Microsoft's new technology, and it is easy to be enthusiastic.

The game lacks content, however. Each activity has several tracks, but everything is still very similar. You never get the feeling to really want to get a new challenge, and the game supports all the time on the same mechanics you learn in the initial phase. There will soon be difficult to build up the motivation to continue. Since the game comes pre-packaged with Kinect camera one can perhaps accept that Kinect Adventures is not the most detailed game, but it had nevertheless been nice if Microsoft gave us more reasons to spend time in the company of the brand new camera.

Entrepreneurs Know Bold Action Wins The Day

Venture capitalists are investors who specialize in funding start-up businesses, to put it simply. They are money people; they want to invest in viable commercial ventures which create strong cash flows, and then make a tidy profit down the road. They expect to have the occasional "klunker" among the businesses in which they invest, and therefore tend to spread their risk within a portfolio of start-up investments.

They're entrepreneurs, to be sure, willing to take risks to create opportunities for themselves and others, and calculating those risks to pay off (often handsomely).

But not all of them are capital-E "Entrepreneurs" in the way I've often described one of the two types of people out there. There are Entrepreneurs, who take Big Ideas to the marketplace and work hard to make their enterprises successful, and there are Victims, who tend toward criticism and need to be taken care of.

In essence, I see Entrepreneurship as an attitude, a philosophy of life. Victimhood is a rival attitude born of a completely different worldview.

Not all Entrepreneurs own or invest in businesses; not all who do those things are Entrepreneurs, in the attitudinal sense. Entrepreneurs take bold action; Victims are happier to criticize those bold actions. I've described it thus: the Entrepreneur is the actor onstage, taking risks, putting it all out there, performing. The Victim would rather be the theater critic. When it's all over, the Entrepreneur gets the applause (or the boos and hisses)... and the best among them never pays attention to her reviews.

The Victim sits around in bars and coffee shops with other generally-dissatisfied critics, exchanging snarky comments and praising himself for his snide intelligence and the way he "sees through" all the "hype." And the theater critic always forgets that, without the actor, he's out of work.

In my experience, the most successful employees have an Entrepreneurial attitude. They always seem to consider that they are in business for themselves, even if they have the traditional employment arrangement with a company in which they enjoy no ownership. Owner or not, the Entrepreneur works her job as if she owned the company, and they were her assets on the line every day. Entrepreneurs take bold actions - actions their less-Entrepreneurial co-workers often see as risky - with an undominable positivity and lots of energy. They work unpaid overtime, and if the boss asks why, they make a little joke of it by saying something like "Well, I decided to run a special this week on my labor, and I hope you'll be pleased and keep me employed." Can you picture the Victim-type ever doing or saying such things?

Entrepreneurs are Adventure Capitalists. To them, most of whom own a business, the opportunity to create a viable commercial concern - to find and keep happy customers - is the great adventure of life. Like almost all famous businesspeople of all time, they fail time and time again, but never lose that spirit of adventure that tells them they'll hit it big one day.

Don't lose heart. Stay bold. Times are tough, but every time they are, some people get rich. And those people are the Entrepreneurs who refuse to let their inner Victim steal their optimism. They're the Adventure Capitalists, and they (you!) will lead us to the better times ahead.
